Event Details:

First Light is proud to host the City’s largest celebration for National Indigenous Peoples Day, taking place on Saturday, June 21—marking both the summer solstice and a vibrant day of culture, connection, and celebration.

We invite all members of the public to begin the day with us at our Sunrise Ceremony from 6:00 to 7:00 a.m. in Bannerman Park. This early morning gathering is a time to offer gratitude, set intentions, and welcome the longest day of the year together in ceremony.

At 12:00 p.m., our celebration kicks off with a lively, family-friendly event in the park featuring a dynamic lineup of performances: First Nations powwow dancers, Inuit throat singers, drummers, Inuit games, and Indigenous language speakers. The event is full of opportunities for community participation, celebration, and learning.

Throughout the afternoon, the park will be buzzing with artisan vendors, food trucks, activities such as face painting and hair braiding, and spaces to rest and connect. We encourage families, neighbours, and community leaders to come together and experience the richness and diversity of Indigenous cultures. We'll be celebrating until 5:00 pm!

All are welcome, and full event details—including rain venue information—can be found at firstlightnl.ca/nipd
